a reflective journey

Today, we are not only reminded that God is love, but we also begin a 40-day journey called Lent.

It’s a time where we look inwardly towards the condition of our hearts to identify who or what is our main focus, and ask tough questions to consider the condition of our hearts, and what we need to change or give up to grow and become more like Christ, and less like ourselves.

This year, I’m being reminded how personal God is, especially being generous, compassionate and caring.

The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years tempted towards hunger, testing God, and worshipping other gods. Yet, God provided then, understood, and eventually sent His Son, Jesus, to live on earth. He too was tempted for 40 days in the wilderness with the same temptations as the Israelites. Yet, Jesus responded differently to help you and me learn, and respond differently today.

So as we begin a similar journey these next 40 days, will you take time to pray that you may not enter into temptation, but ask God to help you identify an area in your life or in your heart that needs to change to live authentically with God? For me, to be drawn more into Him, I’m giving up the social media idol.

Praying for you during this time to have a fresh perspective and quality time with the Lord.
