“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,” – 1 Peter 3:18
How would you define your relationship with Jesus these days? Close, far away, or in the middle? The best way to determine the depth of that relationship is how we respond when we are put to a test from the Lord. For me, it’s been during this time of transition back to the States, & loss of a father, that I’ve learn that we either lean into that relationship – focusing on Him, or run away from it, focusing on our selfish, worldly, or fleshly idols. And based on my response, the Holy Spirit sheds light on the depth of this relationship.
I believe God gives what He knows we can handle, & is there, even when we don’t lean in to show us how important we are to Him, & He to us. We are either weak or strong, and it’s then that we need to focus on Jesus. We need to live by His example & put to death, daily, our self/free-will, not allowing the flesh to become master of our thoughts, actions or reactions. And come alive in Christ through the power & strength from the Holy Spirit, being transformed into His likeness.
So how is your relationship, or if I can go deeper, what is something you need to die of today? I know for me, it’s self!
